Nandi Nobell is an interdisciplinary artist and designer with a futurist mindset striving to see beyond the horizons of human creativity in order to envision new lifestyles in a time that is yet to manifest itself.
In his practice and research, Nandi creates experiences - mixing media that are digital, physical or perceived in states of hypnosis. He thinks of consciousness as the only real material as every other element involved (animate or inanimate) is a prop, device, actor or agent in the shaping of experiences. This approach speaks clearly of simulation theory but is also helpful in paving the way for experiences of consciousness in immersive media. Regardless of the true fabric of existence and the technology at hand at any given time, Nandi targets what any audience or customer can actually perceive - the experience itself - using or developing the means to do so. Interfaces to human experience are the basis of Nandi Nobell’s practice.
According to Nandi, we all form part of and inhabit, a complex structure of storytelling. As all the communication about our experiences is the result of naming any- and everything, he trusts one can only be certain to have the words in common for any experience - shared or not.
As an aesthetic expression, Nandi’s works appear to be the relics and remains of a future to come, having traveled through time in a reversed direction to surface in our present.
Nandi is a senior associate/creative director of XR, with a love for developing concepts, and services with a focus on experiences. He is an academically trained fashion designer (BA Central Saint Martin’s, London) and Experience Designer (MFA Konstfack, Stockholm), who have worked across disciplines for over a decade, in fashion design, research, product design, print design, UI/UX design, branding, high security microprint, virtual reality and with fine art as PR, but also with a wide range of digital and experiential products and projects, including VR and AR. Nandi is fit for work that has no established best practice and loves to collaborate with smart engineers, developers and creators.
